Rain

The rainy season in this part of Michoacan starts in June and carries on until September. During this time you might expect it to rain in the late afternoon for an hour or two, and again in the evenings. The mornings and early afternoons are almost always sunny and humidity is negligible.
An average of 6 inches of rain fall per month is typical and this leads to spectacular growth of plants and flowers. The mountains burst with vibrant colors and lush greenery.

Clouds cascading from the mountains behind La Polvilla

Besides what the rain does for the plants and wildlife in the area you should be aware of the drama created by the rainy season thunder storms. The mountain peaks towering above La Polvilla serve as catalysts and you can watch the clouds forming above throughout the day, sometimes cascading over the mountain like a magic waterfall. When the storms come they are magnificently exciting to watch. Thunder, lightening and pouring rain on the backdrop of a majestic mountain landscape, then suddenly peace, sun and birds again.
